Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct is a “living” document, and subject to refinement and expansion in the future. The purpose of this document is for better and safer enjoyment of the festival for all.

Do West Fest is an annual celebration of music, arts, and community along Dundas Street West from Ossington Street to Landsdowne Avenue. We bring the neighbourhood together and draw visitors to the area to explore shops, food, and rich cultural diversity.

Do West Festival is committed to a creative, participatory, local, safer and inclusive experience for all our community members, staff, volunteers, vendors and neighbours.

Do West Festival is dedicated to a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. All patrons, staff, vendors and volunteers are expected to comply with this code of conduct to ensure a safer and welcoming environment for all people from our diverse communities.

We do not tolerate harassment of any kind, of organizers, attendees, volunteers or staff in any form. All persons must use due care under the circumstances to comply with all rules, regulations, statutes, and laws of the province of Ontario and staff with our anti-harassment and sexual violence policy.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments (related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race and religion), sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

Do West Festival vendors violating these rules may be sanctioned or asked to remove themselves from the festival without a refund, at the discretion of the festival organizers. Speakers, exhibitors, sponsor or vendor booths, or similar activities are also subject to this code of conduct. We believe in holding us all to the same values and standards as we hold our community members.

If a participant or patron engages in harassing behaviour, the festival organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the festival.
